I recently installed Windows 7 and today installed Cakewalk Home Studio 2002. I am a long time user of Home Studio 2002 with windows XP. There's a difference, however with older versions of cakewalk software like we've been talking about in this thread and version 8 which you are talking about. It's not really an alternative solution, it's the solution that you need to do for all cakewalk software if your user profile is not top level admin anyway. So this is a workable alternative for those of us too poor/cheap for a Home Studio software update. Clicking on that made Home Studio run just fine. I then discovered that if I right clicked on the Cakewalk icon within in the 'Start' menu, I would find a 'Run as administrator' option. On Cakewalk's site, I saw a mention of Windows 7 only recognizing this software if run by a computer's administrator. I'm new to the forum and I saw this thread when researching why Cakewalk 8 wouldn't run on my new machine with Windows 7. Controllers: Korg nanoKONTROL, Wacom Bamboo Touchpad. Outboard: Mackie 1402-VLZ mixer, TC Helicon VoiceLive 2, Digitech Vocalist WS EX, PODXTLive, various stompboxes and stuff. Dave Computer: Intel i7, ASROCK H170M, 16GB/5TB+, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Sonar Platinum, TASCAM US-16x08, Cakewalk UM-3G MIDI I/F Instruments: SL-880 Keyboard controller, Korg 05R/W, Korg N1R, KORG Wavestation EX Axes: Fender Stratocaster, Line6 Variax 300, Ovation Acoustic, Takamine Nylon Acoustic, Behringer GX212 amp, Shure SM-58 mic, Rode NT1 condenser mic. That's why you are supposed to run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor (from the Microsoft website) before you take the major step of upgrading your computer's operating system. Most applications will work with Windows 7, but hardware will not work without updated drivers. Any solutions or others having this problem? I believe the problem is your soundcard drivers. When attempting to start Home Studio after installation, the first screen to pop up freezes and will not proceed any further. Popptj I am a long time user of Home Studio 2002 with windows XP.
